Wonderful Copenhagen: Co-created future strategy
The Context
When Wonderful Copenhagen set out to formulate its strategy for the next five years, it wanted to draw on the knowledge and ideas of all employees across the organization. At the same time, there was a desire to break down organizational silos, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and experiment with new, more innovative ways of working.
The Process
Drawing inspiration from the Google Design Sprint process, I designed and facilitated a program that involved the entire organization. All employees participated in intensive sprints, during which they had the opportunity to actively shape the final strategy.
Sprints were also conducted with external stakeholders and end users, who provided valuable insights for the strategic planning process. Working groups were established across the organization to address various strategic focus areas.
The results
An ambitious and clear strategy for the future was formulated.
A shared understanding of the strategy was achieved through broad participation.
New and more innovative ways of working were tested and subsequently implemented.
Collaboration across the organization was strengthened.
Over time, the strategy has proven to be effective in several respects—not least because Wonderful Copenhagen has managed to put it into practice.
"I first worked with Thomas Reibke during Wonderful Copenhagen’s strategy process in 2016, where we wanted an inclusive and inspiring process—both within the organization and with external (existing and potential) partners. From the very first meeting, we felt we were in very capable, competent, and inspiring hands. Thomas has a sharp and steady focus on achieving the shared goal of the process and impressively manages to involve everyone, create meaning in every single step along the way, and simultaneously engage and motivate active, purposeful, and playful participation."
